SkillRise270 is a community Makerspace coming to Mayfield, Kentucky, born from the region's resilience following the devastating 2021 tornado. A key initiative of the Mayfield Kentucky Industrial Development Authority (MKIDA), SkillRise270 is building a collaborative facility that will provide hands-on access to tools, technologies, and shared workspaces designed to develop talent, support entrepreneurship, and strengthen the local economy.
When complete, SkillRise270 will serve as a creative and collaborative hub for Graves County and the surrounding region. By providing shared tools, technologies, and expertise, the facility will support skill development, personal growth, and stronger community connections — with a focus on empowering members to contribute meaningfully to the local economy.
For entrepreneurs and small business owners, SkillRise270 will provide affordable access to prototyping equipment including 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines — significantly lowering the barrier to entry for product development and small business launch. Members will also gain access to a network of like-minded professionals and workshops designed to build both technical and business skills.
Workforce development is at the core of SkillRise270's mission. The facility will offer hands-on experiential learning opportunities that build the technical and soft skills today's employers need. SkillRise270 is already working with local businesses to align future training offerings with regional industry demand, making it an emerging resource for both job seekers and employers investing in their workforce.
