Mayfield, Kentucky - Graves County Economic Development (GCED) is pleased to announce that Mayfield Consumer Products, LLC (MCP), a leading manufacturer of branded candles and home fragrance products, is investing $3,250,000 to expand its production facility in the Hickory Industrial Park as part of a company-wide commitment to meet expanding customer demand, adding jobs and supporting long-term growth.

“The investment will create approximately 14 new positions,” said Troy Propes, Owner and Chief Executive Officer, MCP. “The resulting operational efficiencies will create opportunity for growth, and with growth comes additional employment needs.”

The expansion features a 63,000-square-foot warehouse to store incoming production components, which allows MCP to expand offerings to its customers.

MCP is a leading producer of the world’s largest candle brands and has twice been named “Supplier of the Year” by its leading customer.

“That recognition comes with the responsibility to be more proactive for the customer,” said Tanya Rose, President, Manufacturing, MCP. “The expansion will help the Mayfield plant meet these expanding contract demands.”

MCP now offers decorating services such as paint and shrink wrap to the candles it sells, eliminating an additional step in the production process and helping customers reduce logistics costs and turn-around time on orders. “With shorter lead times, our customers can be more flexible in meeting consumer demand,” said Rose.

“It’s exciting for Graves County Economic Development to see Mayfield Consumer Products continuing to innovate and succeed as an American-made product in a very competitive market,” said Jason Lemle, GCED President. “We are committed to supporting their efforts and facilitating growth for all our business partners.”

“Graves County is proud to be the home of Mayfield Consumer Products and we’re excited to see MCP continue to grow and invest locally,” said Jesse Perry, Graves County Judge/Executive. “We salute the MCP leadership team and the outstanding workforce for their commitment to excellence that underpins the company’s overall success.”

“Just like the City of Mayfield, MCP is resilient,” said Mayfield Mayor Kathy O’Nan. “They are looking to the future and this expansion demonstrates that MCP continues to stand with the community where their journey began. We are proud of their success and look forward to the increased investment it brings to Mayfield.”

MCP demonstrates innovation in many ways, including a commitment to significantly reduce landfill waste through recycling. Over the past 18 months, the Mayfield facility has implemented recycling for base glass, metals, plastics, wax, and cardboard. “We are being responsible corporate citizens while also satisfying our customers’ desire to be environmentally friendly,” explained Rose.

In addition to the Mayfield plant, MCP operates production facilities in Tennessee and Alabama and employs approximately 1,300 people, with seasonal adjustments.
