New Community Connections Video Highlights Innovative Career Collaboration

Graves County Economic Development (GCED) and the Mayfield/Graves County Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce the release of a new Community Connections video highlighting the collaboration among local business, industry, and, most importantly, Mayfield Independent Schools and Graves County Schools, that introduces students to local career opportunities and helps them chart a path for success right here at home.
“We are so proud of the Community Connections program,” said GCED President Jason Lemle. “It really represents the best of what local economic development strives to do—building partnerships that deliver long-term benefits, making Graves County a better place to live and work. This video showcases one of the most innovative ways we are investing in our future workforce and the community.”
Community Connections helps students in their freshmen and sophomore years of high school learn about the kinds of jobs available in the area and fosters professional relationships through interactive meetings at facilities.
For each visit, students are equipped with a business profile and a student playbook that outlines expectations and offers recommendations for discussion. Businesses hosting student visits also have a playbook that includes ideas for activities, suggestions for facility tours, and helps them prepare for meaningful discussions.
The Community Connections video joins GCED’s online video library. The video was produced by Austin Lamb Productions. Special thanks to Mayfield Independent Schools and Graves County Schools for their participation.
Graves County Economic Development began in 1981, becoming the driving force behind expansion and development opportunities in the community. It continues to foster strong relationships with existing businesses and attracts new industry to grow in Graves County.
The Mayfield Graves County Chamber of Commerce is a proactive partner for its members. We help to meet the needs of our members and the business community at large by providing promotional and educational opportunities for our membership. The Chamber also serves along with Graves County Economic Development, Graves County Tourism Commission, Graves County Fiscal Court and the City of Mayfield to offer “one voice” in Frankfort concerning issues that affect our business community.
