Local School Systems

Mayfield and Graves County provides some of the best schools in the nation. 

Once you arrive in Mayfield and Graves County you will quickly learn that we are a town that loves football. While considered cross-town rivals, both the Mayfield Cardinals and the Graves County Eagles, are a huge part of the pride that we take in our athletic community. The "Battle of The Birds" is a yearly game that brings people near and far to celebrate our roots with a friendly rivalry. Football has a long-standing history and following, but each of our schools' excel in other areas of sports including basketball, baseball, volleyball, track, soccer, cheerleading and much more. Within each school, you can find what interests you. While we pride ourselves on athletics we take a far greater pride in the academic excellence that each of these schools maintain each year. 

       

 

Mayfield City Schools       

In 2008, Mayfield High School celebrated its 100th anniversary of pride, tradition and excellence in providing quality education to its students. The Mayfield School System can boast brand new facilities for the elementary school grades pre-K – 5.The Mayfield School System has earned accreditation by the nationally recognized Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 1916. The main focus at Mayfield is to take a student from his/her first day of school and prepare him/her step by step toward graduation day in a safe and nurturing environment. Students have access to technology on a daily basis, have access to small class sizes, the community of Mayfield takes an active role in educating all students, students are involved in hands-on education and Mayfield Middle and High have award winning bands. The Mayfield High School has won 12 KHSAA football championships. Mayfield has not had a losing season since 1963. Go Cardinals!             

Graves County Schools    

Graves County High School earned honorable mention among U.S. News’ 2007 “Best High Schools” U.S. News & World Report, the weekly newsmagazine, has designated Graves County High School with its “bronze medal” status in its ranking of the best high schools in America. The Graves County School System can boast brand new state-of-the art facilities among a vast amount of wonderful programs and academic achievements. Graves County offers that rare combination of a small school atmosphere and big school opportunities. The school features The Fine Arts/Health Sciences Academy, The Math, Science and Engineering Academy along with the Business/Information Technology Academy.
