Atlas Equipment Services, we build new equipment as well as perform onsite maintenance for our customers. All our employees will perform both field work and shop work, so some travel is required. MUST have welding and blueprint skills. Candidate must have the desire to learn new skill sets. We are a member of the Kentucky Drug Free Workplace Program.



Job Description:


Responsibilities and Duties

Task include, but are limited to:

Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.

Must be able to meet vehicle insurance requirements in order to drive company vehicles to and from the job site.

Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.

Move parts into position, manually or with hoists or cranes. Requires lifting 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.

Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools.

Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.

Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.

Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.

Tack-weld fitted parts together.

Lift or move materials and finished products, using large cranes.

Remove high spots and cut bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches.

Mark reference points onto floors or face blocks and transpose them to work pieces, using measuring devices, squares, chalk, and soapstone.

Set up face blocks, jigs, and fixtures.

Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt straps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting.

Locate and mark work piece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications.

Design and construct templates and fixtures, using hand tools.

Hammer, chip, and grind work pieces to cut, bend, and straighten metal.

Straighten warped or bent parts, using sledges, hand torches, straightening presses.

Smooth work piece edges and fix taps, tubes, and valves.

Preheat work pieces to make them malleable, using hand torches or furnaces.

Heat-treat parts, using acetylene torches.

Move equipment to and from job site - will require passing DOT physical.

Work at heights of over 60’ at some jobs.

Email resume to  or call Gina to set up an appointment @ 270-251-9111 ext. 3  to take our assessment tests, fill out an application, and have an interview.  The assessment testing includes a hands-on blueprint reading and welding test, written blueprint reading test, and a written mechanical aptitude test.  Please bring your welding hood if you have one.  We use the assessment testing to see if your skills are acceptable and to rate a starting wage, if hired.  We do not have a set wage, it goes by skill level.
